Betsy Jones teaches and performs on euphonium, baritone, trombone and tuba. She attended the University of Michigan for a Bachelor’s Degree in Euphonium Performance and received a Master’s in Performance from Michigan State University. Her teachers include Philip Sinder, Fritz Kaenzig, Mark Fisher, and Kenneth Kroesche. Her teaching positions have included Valdosta State University, the University of West Georgia, Wesleyan College, and Georgia Southwestern State University.
Betsy began her brass band career with the Georgia Brass Band, performing on solo baritone from 2003-2011. She is a regular member of the Athena Brass Band and currently holds the solo euphonium chair in the Austin Brass Band. She has appeared in NABBA Championships as part of the Georgia Brass Band (2006-2010) and the Five Lakes Silver Band (Oakland Brass Band – 2011).
Betsy took over as Editor of The Brass Band Bridge in 2009. She lives in San Antonio, Texas, with her husband, Air Force euphoniumist John Caputo, and two cats.
